Ian Richardson

Following a successful career as a teacher, Head of Science and AdvisoryTeacher, Ian joined OFSTED as a HMI for Science. He was then promoted to Specialist Adviser for Science which involved advising HMCI, Secretary of State and ministers on science education matters. As part of this role Ian was responsible for writing and publishing Ofsted’s reports on Science. Recently retired Ian now works in a freelance capacity. Through this experience Ian has developed a comprehensive and unique understanding of the workings of school science inspections and how science departments can take a more proactive approach during inspections.
