Simon Quinnell – Senior Professional Development Leader (Technicians)
Simon worked as a science technician and senior technician in a secondary school in London for many years before moving to a large F.E college as a biology technician.
During his time in F.E, Simon undertook some teacher training and taught Biology as well as working as a technician. He also participated in a new building project for the science department.
In 2005 Simon started work at the National Science Learning Centre as the senior science technician with responsibility for the technician service, laboratories and technicians courses. Since 2005 he has developed, designed, implemented and evaluated a curriculum of technician’s courses for the National Science Learning Centre. Simon also advises the regional centres on technicians CPD, works with external partners on technician and science accommodation issues and works towards improving the status and recognition of science technicians in education.
